Job Summary/Description:

The Jewish Arts & Culture Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of the Marvin J. Pertzik Jewish Cultural Arts Department. As a member of the St. Paul JCC’s programming team, this position is responsible for developing, planning and implementing quality programs and events that strengthen both traditional and contemporary Jewish cultural identity for our community. This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Program Director.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement quality JCC programs in music, dance, film, adult & children’s theater, visual arts and literature including:

o JCC Symphony Orchestra

o Twin Cities Jewish Book Series

o All Children’s Theater

  • Work closely with members of the JCC programming team to develop cross-generational and inter-departmental programming
  • Collaborate with the community shaliach and RAJMN in developing arts programming related to Israel and Russia
  • Collaborate with Sabes JCC on community arts programs including:

o Film Festival

o Humor Festival

o Israeli Cultural Arts

  • Manage departmental budget
  • Work closely with JCC marketing staff to coordinate marketing for all planned programs
  • Make periodic reports to the JCC’s Board of Directors
  • Act as the primary representative of the Marvin J. Pertzik Cultural Arts Department to all internal and external constituencies
  • Actively participate as a member of the JCC staff team: attend staff meetings; work collaboratively on agency projects and events; work as the evening on-duty building supervisor and at the Welcome Desk as assigned; participate in major agency-wide events and functions

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the arts or related field
  • 2-4 years professional experience in program development, management, and supervision
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing innovative programming and building an audience around events
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with internal and external constituencies in a manner which encourages harmonious working relationships, enhances the image and reputation of the St. Paul JCC and promotes positive client/agency relations
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact, diplomacy, and discretion
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability and willingness to learn new technology
  • Positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture, holidays and traditions – experience working in the Jewish community is preferred
