Happy New Year! January has a ton to offer to start 2018 out right! It has been a frigid winter so far, but here’s a bunch of opportunities to stick to your resolutions, get in from the cold, and warm up with friends around the Twin Cities.

Torah on Tap (Free)

Start the New Year off right with a trip to Hell with Rabbi Olitzky! Enjoy a cold one on Beth El, while discussing Judaism’s take on the life, death, and what comes next at Park Tavern.

New Years Resolutions and Yoga w/Moishe House (Free)

January 7 @ 10 a.m.

Join the Moishe House crew for a inspiring morning of yoga and a discussion about we can all work towards achieving our New Years goals. Don’t worry – it’ll be beginner friendly!

Makom Gives Back – Our Savior’s Housing (Free)

January 8 @ 6:45 p.m.

Join Makom at Our Savior’s Housing for an evening of giving back. Makom will be serving 40 residents – setting up and serving. An awesome opportunity to give your time where it matters!

Engage! (Free under 30; $20 otherwise)

January 13 @ 7 p.m.

Join Hineni for an evening of first-rate teachers, wonderful learning on a wide-range of topic. Live music, ethics discussions, Torah study, and of course – food!

Sunday Funday – Punch Bowl Social Minneapolis (Free)

January 14 @ 1-5:00 p.m.

This ain’t your grandma’s Super Sunday – No phones, no scripts, no cards! Come have a beer (or two) and join the Minneapolis Jewish Federation for the first ever Super FUNday at Punch Bowl Social. Have fun, be inspired, and rediscover what Federation is all about – community. Please register in advance!

Shabbat @ Moishe House (Free)

January 19 @ 7 p.m.

Join Moishe house for their monthly Shabbat dinner. These are always a ton of fun, with a chance to meet new people, probably play a game or two, and enjoy an informal Shabbat with friends.

Rimon Artist Salon w/ Talia Young: Text as Power ($6 for 36 & under)

Join Rimon to hear Talia Young as she discusses the intersection of Jewish identity, history, and social change. This Rimon Artist Salon offers a taste of a poetry slam, featuring Talia’s passionate style of performance – slam poetry.

JFCS NextGen Winter Party ($10)

January 25 @ 6:30-9:30 p.m.

NextGen’s Annual Winter Party – these are always a blast! Plus, this will likely be the last chance to actually go out for a drink before Super Bowl madness descends on our poor little city. Grab your tickets today!

Taste of Torah w/Makom (Free)

I made it to the first one of these events last month, and I can attest that I came for the food, but stayed for the Torah. Join the gang this month for homestyle Vietnamese food (vegan and vegetarian – but super tasty). Be sure to let them know you’re coming – space is limited!
