Community High Holiday Celebrations

This is the season when we begin to reflect on the meaning of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, beginning with the first observance of the season on Sunday night, September 9, 2018. This first celebration ushers in a period of five weeks when some of the most important and meaningful Jewish celebrations take place including Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah.

Inclusive of the full spectrum of the High Holidays in general, JFS Community Chaplaincy will be providing Holy Day celebrations in a number of locations throughout the Twin Cities. This is an opportunity for some of our most isolated Jews to come together to celebrate, learn, and even share a seasonal nosh along with the sound of the shofar. For many, this is a time to be in the company of others, helping to remove some of the feelings of isolation and loneliness that can so easily accompany this season.
