Job Summary/Description:
The Judaic Studies Director oversees the implementation and development of the Judaic Studies curriculum in kindergarten through eighth grade and reports to and serves as a close advisor to the Head of School. The Judaic Studies Director will design and propose innovate changes to curriculum and pedagogy by serving as the Judaic Studies representative to the Academic Council.
The Judaic Studies Director works closely with the Assistant Director of Jewish Life, General Studies Director, Assistant General Studies Director, and Hebrew Coordinator. While there are organizational elements to this role, it is designed to be a visionary position for curriculum and pedagogy, as well as a key organizer for the initiatives coming out of the Academic Council and guided by the Strategic Plan, as we look not only to codify but revolutionize our curriculum and pedagogy over the coming three to five years. As a leader within the School, the Judaic Studies Director is expected to be a collaborative team player, innovative thinker, cheerleader of the staff and school, and agent of academic innovation within the context of a pluralistic, inclusive Jewish community. This is a 12-month position.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise and guide curricular development projects in the areas of Jewish Bible (Grades K-5), Rabbinics (Grades 6-8), integrated Judaic Studies/Art initiatives, and maintain and share knowledge of best practices within the field.
