Our Iyunim (PreK – 4th Grade), Kehillat Shabbat (5th and 6th Grade) and Jewish Ethics (7th and 8th Grade) program explores Hebrew and Judaics with a focus on kinaesthetic/experiential learning.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Iyunim Teachers (3)

  • $15-25/hour depending on experience
  • 9:15 – 12:30 Every Saturday
  • 9:15-11:45 6 Sundays/year (sometimes students only, sometimes with adults/parents)
  • Paid additionally up to 1.5 hours for planning/prep
  • Paid additionally for teacher’s meetings
  • Presence in Main Sanctuary
  • Torah procession (Main Sanctuary)
  • Snack, Hebrew Activities, Ma’agal (circle time) learning, supervised free-play, minyan katan and minyan gadol (led by others).
  • Teachers are always invited to stay for lunch.

Kehillat Shabbat Teacher (1)

  • $15-25/hour depending on experience
  • 9:15-12:30 Every Saturday
  • 9:15-11:45 6 Sundays/year for B’nei Mitzvah Programs (students and adults/parents together)
  • Paid additionally up to 1.5 hours for planning/prep
  • Paid additionally for teacher’s meetings
  • Presence in Main Sanctuary through the first aliyah (sitting with the students)
  • T’fillah
  • Snack, Hebrew Activities, learning.
  • Teachers are always invited to stay for lunch.

Jewish Ethics (1)

  • $15-25/hour depending on experience
  • 9:15 – 12:15 Every Saturday
  • Paid additionally up to 1.5 hours for planning/prep
  • Paid additionally for teacher’s meetings
  • Presence in Main Sanctuary through the Torah Service
  • Sicha/Discussion around hot topics and ethical dilemmas
  • Teachers are always invited to stay for lunch.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A genuine enthusiasm for being in community with children and youth
  • A desire to share Judaism in community with children and youth
  • 2 years minimum experience working with children and youth
  • Hebrew decoding preferred, or interest and commitment to learn
  • Basic modern Hebrew preferred, or interest and commitment to learn
  • Self-motivated, strong communication skills, a commitment to working with others.
