The Director of Youth Engagement is responsible for building, growing, and implementing, a continuum of opportunities for young people and their families to explore their Judaism and connect to the Beth El community in developmentally appropriate ways.

This is a full-time, exempt, position with some evenings, weekends, and occasional out-of-town travel.
The position offers a competitive salary of $50,000 to $60,000 (depending on experience), and is eligible for a generous paid time off allowance as well as employer-subsided medical/dental/vision options and 403b retirement account match.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Programming: Develop and implement programs, some rooted in Jewish teaching for youth from newborn through college age;
- Staff: recruit, train, supervise, and mentor a team of youth advisors to create and implement programming;
- Marketing and Communication: market all events using age-appropriate marketing tools
- Leadership Development: mentor youth through their teenage years to ensure pipeline of leaders in USY/Jewish youth groups and beyond the Jewish community on the local, regional and national level.
- Administration: work collaboratively with colleagues and the finance department to develop and track multiple budgets; assist with charitable giving/fundraising; work collaboratively on applicable grant applications, ensure programs have proper supplies/equipment/etc. for success

- • Experience in managing and training teams: searching and hiring, mentorship and coaching, and staff deployment.
- Able to work successfully with children in an educational or recreation capacity: interfacing with families.
- Able to develop age-appropriate curriculum/program, improvisational agility in programming, navigating the emotions and needs (developmental, educational, spiritual) of both children and their families.
- Knowledge and experience working with children with special needs as well as mental health challenges.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations associated with working with children: demonstrating current awareness of engagement within the youth arena.
- Jewish living and literacy: serves as a role model of personal engagement in Jewish living; upholds Jewish values; embraces and understands Jewish traditions, holiday and life cycles.
- High energy and self-starter to provide positive experiences and creative programming
- Proficient in computer programs, especially Microsoft Office program: seamlessly interfacing in the synagogue working environment.
Education and Experience:
- 3-4 years’ experience working with youth in a Jewish setting (school, camp, synagogue, etc.).
- 2 years’ experience working in a managerial capacity.
