Steven Mayer hadn’t been looking to write book, but diving into the banker’s boxes of history left by his late father, Mayer learned more about his family than he was prepared for. He turned that into My Father Against The Nazis, a book that weaves the present with four generations of Mayers going back to 19th century Germany, and later the escape to the U.S. as the Nazis rose to power. We talk about tracing family history, what he learned about his late father going through old documents, and inherited trauma, on this week’s Who The Folk?! Podcast.
