This is a Guest Post by a Member of Temple Israel. [Eds. Note: the $15 Groupon tickets deal was extended until Wednesday or until all tickets run out.]
The act of questioning is central to Judaism and few are as masterful at asking questions than Stephen J. Dubner, co-author of the bestsellers, Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics. His books bring new perspective to how we view the world and challenge everything…e.g., can eating kangaroo save the planet? (anyone want to volunteer for that one…?!)
Did you know that the month you were born or the name you have might contribute to your success? And are capuchin monkeys statistically indistinguishable from most stock-market investors? How about this one: who adds more value, a pimp or a realtor?
Dubner, who also penned Choosing My Religion: A Memoir of a Family Beyond Belief, is coming to Temple Israel in Minneapolis – it’s a chance to see him live.
The event is Saturday, October 23 at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $36, and will be offered for just $15 on www.Groupon.com today, Mon Oct. 18.
Buy tickets at www.templeisrael.com and “like” it on the Facebook page “Freakonomics Comes to Minneapolis.”
Eds Note: Freakonomics the movie is now in theaters, so for those of you who prefer to get a taste of a book through its trailer, here ya go.

Good news! The Groupon was extended and will run until Wednesday, or until all the tickets are sold, whichever comes first. I wouldn’t wait to buy, though, because there are a limited number of tickets still left. He is an awesome speaker – and great topic! He was featured in a Q&A in Sunday’s Star Tribune – http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/yourmoney/105031169.html?elr=KArks7PYDiaK7DUHPYDiaK7DUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aU0c7Ok:Pia_eyckciUr
I’m always full of questions – someone once told me, “you ask too many questions.” Yikes. I will need to see this movie and had I not checked out this post, I probably wouldn’t have been aware of it anytime soon. So, thank you. And, lucky Minneapolis people to be able to hear him speak live. Makes me miss living in the city 🙁
