Basically, 90% of the best comedians are Jewish. If you don’t believe me, ask wikipedia.
The JCC gets it. That’s why the Minneapolis Jewish Community Center is hosting the 2011 Minneapolis Jewish Humor Festival. From January 15 – 30, 2011, you’ll be able to feast your eyes on hilarious one-act plays, one-person shows, music performance, stand-up routines, improvisational comedy, story-telling, film, visual art and more—all celebrating the Jewish contribution to the world of humor.
Sounds frickin’ awesome to me.
And just because TC Jewfolk loves you so much…. you know it…. wait for it… wait for it….
We’re giving away two FREE PAIRS OF TICKETS to any show of your choice at the Minneapolis Jewish Humor Festival. That’s right, win this, and you (and your hot date/sister/bubbe/best friend) get to spend a night laughing your a– off, for free.

I think one reason Jews are so funny is because we’ve had to be. How else could a people survive 3000 years with anti-semitism and persecution? We’ve had to laugh our way through it!
Jews are so damn funny because our history is so damn not.
Why are Jews so funny?
We wouldn’t survive all the tsurus our people have gone through without a sense of humor.
Wit, great comic timing and an ability to laugh at themselves!
We’re funny? I guess that’s why I get laughed at so often. Hmmm. This is such a relief. I was really worried there was something wrong with me, although, I do keep getting these headaches. Do you think its CANCER?
Did you hear the one about the Rabbi and the guy from St. Paul?
“Oppressed people tend to be witty.”

And trust me, if you weren’t funny, you wouldn’t have ended up with that pretty blue eyed, blond hair skiksa from a nice Irish family in Minneapolis, who, lucky for you, likes a man with a sense of humor, and can cook a brisket almost as good as your mother–but don’t tell her.
Because if you don’t laugh, you cry. That and sarcasm has proven to be a potent weapon!
Congrats Mal and NMR! You each won a free pair of tickets to a show of your choice in the Jewish Humor Festival! I’ll email you more information. The rest of you should go check out the festival anyway! It should be great!
