This is a guest post by Bill Driscoll, Executive Director of NECHAMA-Jewish Response to Disaster.
NECHAMA – Jewish Response to Disaster (the Twin Cities based nonprofit that responds to disasters in our back yard and nationwide) has two volunteer opportunities fast approaching. As always, all are welcome to volunteer with NECHAMA and no prior experience is necessary.
On Monday, July 30th at 7:30 AM NECHAMA will head up to Bemidji, MN to assist the clearing of downed trees around homes from a severe storm earlier this month. We anticipate returning late afternoon on Thursday, August 2nd unless we work hard enough to complete the work sooner. Transportation from Eden Prairie and housing during this trip north will be provided but volunteers are responsible for bringing all their own bedding and toiletries and covering their own meals. If you’re interested in volunteering on this trip or even driving yourself up just for a day or two and meeting us in Bemidji, please register to volunteer here.
After our team gets back from storm clean-up in Bemidji, we are going to need to do some maintenance on the tools and vehicles that were there as well as those that were recently active in the flood response in the Duluth area. If you are willing, able, and interested we could use some help on Wednesday, August 8th between 4 and 8 PM at the NECHAMA Office & Warehouse, 7260 Washington Ave South, Eden Prairie, with scrubbing the tools and vehicles as well as restocking the response trailers so they are ready to respond the next time disaster strikes. Please wear clothing that can get dirty and Pizza and pop will be provided. Please RSVP here for the warehouse work night. See you then!
