In its goal to defeat the state’s proposed anti-marriage amendment, J-Pride — the Twin Cities’ Jewish GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) organization — will host the “J-Pride Potluck” on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 5 p.m. at Regency Woods Community Room (2200 South Plymouth Road, Minnetonka).
The event will include “People You Know” conversation training designed to help you spread a message of inclusion. Having meaningful, personal conversations about how you are affected and why you care will help sort out fact from fiction and keep people moving in the right direction through November.
J-Pride organizer Neil Meyer said the Jewish organization does not support limiting one group’s freedom in the constitution. “We treat others the way we would want to be treated ourselves,” he said. “We will not stand by and allow anyone to be told that it is illegal to marry the person they love.”
RSVP for the Potluck here or on Facebook. There is no cost to participate. Simply join in and bring a dairy or pareve dish (no meat) to share with 6–8 people.
Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis is the fiscal agent for J-Pride.
Why is a representative of an alleged Jewish organization promoting this avera? Can Mr. Ingber explain this?

What is their position on polygamy or on marriage between consenting adult relatives? The people I spoke with don’t really support anyone marrying – just same sex partners. It is another example of an interest group wanting additional benefits for themselves. I don’t blame them and I even sympathize with them, but I do not agree with their rhetoric.
