Come “Get Smart!” at JFCS NextGen’s Election Information Event Thursday, Aug. 16, from 6:30-9 p.m. at Mozza Mia (3910 W 50th St, Edina).
Come learn about hot political issues from both sides of the aisle in a non-debate setting with Republican Congressman Erik Paulsen and Democratic State Representative Steve Simon. You will also enjoy great food and networking while having fun with friends.
Third District Congressman Erik Paulsen is a member of the Ways & Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care, economic and trade policy and is the chief tax writing committee in the House of Representatives.
Additionally, in 2009, Paulsen helped secure a $250,000 appropriation for JFCS to fund family caregiver support. Previously, Paulsen served 13 years in the State Legislature, where he was the House Majority Leader from 2003 to 2007.
State Representative Steve Simon, now in his fourth term in the Minnesota House, is a member of the Government Operations and Elections Committee. Simon authored a bipartisan election-reform law to change Minnesota’s Primary from September to August, which ensured all of Minnesota’s armed service members stationed overseas would be able to participate in our elections.
Additionally, he was part of the team that secured a $250,000 direct appropriation to JFCS’s evidence-based Parent-Child Home Program, which invests in at-risk children to prepare them for school.

• Program and Q&A Session — 7-8 p.m.
• Network and Nosh — 8-9 p.m.

The JFCS NextGen Program aims to actively engage young philanthropists ages 21-36. Part of its mission is to provide an opportunity for young professionals to grow personally and professionally through a variety of events, including seminars, workshops and other interactive social networking events.
