Job Summary/Description:
The Director leads the Community Services staff in consistently delivering high-quality programs that strengthen the Jewish and broader communities by helping individuals and groups build and sustain well-being and meaningful connections. This includes program development, supervision and management of staff, volunteer engagement, participation in fundraising, monitoring program budgets, and implementation of the JFCS strategic plan. Along with program staff, the Director is responsible for defining clear goals and measures of success, collecting and analyzing data, evaluating outcomes, and developing and implementing strategies for continuous improvement. This includes identifying and cultivating opportunities for innovative growth. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director helps forge the agency’s strategic path, develop and assess agency policies and practices, and nurture an organizational culture that is consistent with JFCS values.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
- Leadership in Program Management: With support from program staff, define clear goals and measures of program success, collect and analyze data, evaluate outcomes, and develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement. Lead department staff in implementing the JFCS strategic plan. Identify and cultivate opportunities for innovative growth through new or expanded programs. Identify and coordinate opportunities for integration and synergies among Community Services programs, Development, and Communications. Attend and work at some events for each Community Services program. (40%)
- Leadership in Staff Supervision: Provide leadership and direct supervision to all department staff. Promote and model continuous feedback, performance development coaching, and holding staff accountable for meeting performance expectations. Cultivate staff engagement and participate in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff. (35%)
- Representing JFCS and Community Services: Serve as a liaison to other agencies, community groups and funding organizations, helping to cultivate JFCS Community Services as a thought leader and strategic partner. (10%)
- Fundraising and Financial Management: Work with development staff and COO to cultivate and apply for funding. Implement and monitor systems and procedures to ensure compliance with funders’ requirements, including preparation of progress reports. Monitor revenue and expenses, manage operations in light of revenue and expenses, and make budget recommendations to COO and CFO. (5%)
- Executive Leadership: Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, helping assess and develop the agency’s strategic path, develop and assess agency policies and practices, and nurture an organizational culture that is consistent with JFCS values. Participate in and lead agency committees, task forces, and training. (10%)
Experience and Qualification Requirements:
Experience
- Minimum of five years in positions with progressively increased levels of responsibility
- Minimum of two years supervising multiple direct reports
- Working or otherwise developing relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, such as differences related to culture, religion, financial resources, race, national origin, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and abilities
- Community programs/events design, implementation, and management strongly preferred
- Volunteer recruitment and management strongly preferred
- Working in or volunteering with the Twin Cities Jewish community is strongly preferred
- Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on outcomes is preferred
