This year, Rosh Hashanah begins at nightfall on Sunday, Sept. 25, and Yom Kippur begins at nightfall on Tuesday, Oct. 4. Be sure to contact your preferred place of worship in advance to reserve your spot!
Reform

- Temple of Aaron of the Twin Cities. You are always welcome at Temple of Aaron! This year, we will provide services available live at Temple of Aaron and Livestreamed on our YouTube page. We will have exciting programs for young children, young families and adults alike. On the 1st Day of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur we will offer one main sanctuary service from 8:30 a.m.-noon. On the 2nd day we will be in our main sanctuary and hold a creative 2nd-day musical service, focused on “Community”, as we hear the stories of members. Our Clergy team of Rabbi Marcus Rubenstein, Rabbi Rachel Rubenstein, Cantor/Educator Joshua Fineblum, and Cantorial Intern Kelsey Bailey, along with Tom and Julia Bartsch have planned some exciting spiritual experiences for all to participate in. Reconstructionist
- Mayim Rabim Congregation is a warm and eclectic Jewish Reconstructionist community in South Minneapolis; we meet at the Friends Meeting House in the Linden Hills neighborhood at 44th & York Avenue South. You are welcome to join us for any of our services and activities throughout the year and can check our schedule online. We are offering a program in addition to services, to connect to the spirit of the holiday season. Rabbi Sharon Stiefel will teach a class on Unlocking the Spiritual Essence of the Jewish High Holidays through Hebrew Words on Thursday, September 8, from 7-8 p.m. (Zoom only). High Holiday Services will be led by Rabbi Stiefel and congregants in person as well as on Zoom. Email us at [email protected] for the Zoom links. We ask that those attending in person be masked and vaccinated. For Rosh Hashanah, we will gather on Sunday, September 25, from 6-7 p.m. and again on Monday, September 26 from 9:30 a.m.-noon. Visitors are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations on Rosh Hashanah, which will be donated to STEP. Services for the second day of Rosh Hashanah will be Tuesday, September 27, from 10 a.m.-noon. On Monday, September 26 at 4:30 p.m., we will meet for the Tashlich (casting off sins) ritual, in person, weather permitting, at Minnehaha Creek. Meet us at the corner of Humboldt Avenue S. and W. Minnehaha Parkway (drive south on the parkway one long block from 50th Street). Yom Kippur begins on Tuesday, October 4 with Kol Nidre from 6:15-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 5 includes services 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Yizkor at 4:30, a 5 p.m. study session on “Reparations”, and a 6 P.m. closing service ending at 7:30 p.m. with one last long blast of the Shofar. Break the fast afterwards on your own this year, hopefully together next year! Humanistic Judaism
- Or Emet, the Minnesota Congregation for Humanistic Judaism, is celebrating this year’s High Holidays with services in person, as well as the option to participate in programming online. Or Emet invites everyone to share in our High Holiday services. We are a secular congregation celebrating and honoring Jewish culture, history and values from a humanistic, inclusive perspective. You can join us for Rosh Hashanah, Tashlich, Kol Nidre or Yom Kippur services, emphasizing the history and culture of the Jewish people and the values of each celebration. The following programs will be led by Or Emet rabbinic candidate Eva Cohen: Erev Rosh Hashanah: 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, in person at the Minnesota JCC Sabes Center Minneapolis and virtual (registration required for virtual); Tashlich: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, (registration required); Kol Nidre: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in person at the Minnesota JCC Sabes Center Minneapolis and virtual (registration required for virtual); Yom Kippur: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in person at the Minnesota JCC Sabes Center Minneapolis and virtual (registration required for virtual). Or Emet requires everyone attending services to mask and maintain social distance in all indoor areas of the JCC for the protection of children and others who are vulnerable. For Humanistic Jews, the High Holidays are a time to reflect on the relationship of the universe to human need and desire. We assess our behavior during the past year and affirm the possibilities for change, improvement and happiness. The High Holidays open the Jewish year with the most important message of Jewish history: human dignity is not a gift of destiny; it is a human achievement, requiring courage and self-reliance. Other/Independent
- Temple Israel (of Duluth) is affiliated with both the Reform and Reconstructionist movements. All are welcome to participate in our High Holiday services (as well as all other services and programs throughout the year). We are back in person this year with the following COVID 19 protocols: all in attendance are required to be fully vaccinated and boosted (when appropriate) and masking is optional. Services will also be broadcast on Zoom. Please contact our office at [email protected] to obtain the link. Donations to defray our costs are welcome but not required. In particular, no donations are requested or expected from students from outside the Duluth area who are attending college in Duluth. - PJ Library has a new PJ Library guide that explores ways for your family to celebrate the three-week Jewish holiday season that begins with Rosh Hashanah. Subscriber families will receive a printed copy for the 2022 holiday season, but anyone can download the guide in English, Portuguese, or Spanish.
- Twin Cities Jewish Renewal Community is holding a second day of Rosh Hashanah community service from 10 a.m.-noon on Sept. 27. More information and a link to register can be found on the TCJRC website.
