A Beloved Jewish Twin Cities Tradition

Shabbat in the Park is a beloved annual series hosted by TC Jewfolk and PJ Library, offering families a joyful and welcoming way to celebrate Shabbat together in community.

This low-to-no-barrier program invites families with children to slow down, connect, and enjoy the beauty of Shabbat in a relaxed, outdoor setting.

Bring your own family dinner—whether it’s a picnic from home or takeout from your favorite spot—and join us in the park. We provide challah and juice for blessings, and the rest of the evening is yours to play, unwind, and connect with other families raising Jewish children in the Twin Cities.

Shabbat in the Park is designed to be an easy, meaningful way to welcome Shabbat—no formal program, just community, connection, and a breath of fresh air.

How Shabbat in the Park Is Shaped

Shabbat in the Park reflects Jewfolk, Inc.’s core values of Connection – Chibur and Engagement – Me’uravut, and is brought to life in partnership with PJ Library’s wonderfully community-centered work. This program is designed around the needs and rhythms of local families, creating a welcoming space where everyone—whether new to Jewish traditions or long-time participants—can celebrate Shabbat together. Through PJ Library’s deep commitment to enriching Jewish family life and Jewfolk, Inc.’s Human Centered Design approach, the experience evolves based on what families want: relaxed, meaningful gatherings that foster community, play, and shared tradition. By centering real voices and real needs, Shabbat in the Park turns a simple outdoor evening into a joyful, inclusive celebration of Jewish life in the Twin Cities.
