About Beth El’s Youth Department:
Beth El’s Youth Department engages hundreds of young people, from newborns and their families to high school seniors – and everyone in between! Opportunities to participate in and learn about Jewish life abound for youth of all ages. Regular, formal programming begins at 2 years-old with weekly Childcare on Shabbat (Saturday) mornings. It continues with BESTY, our Shabbat morning camp-style program for elementary schoolers. After our students become B’Mitzvah, they engage in one or more of our teen programs – in particular our youth group, BERUSY.

About the Youth Engagement Associate:
Beth El’s first-ever Youth Engagement Associate is both a behind-the-scenes and front-facing role, serving roughly 50% of their time in each way. They support the Director and the operations of the Youth Department in administrative and congregant-facing ways.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
● Coordinate and maintain department logistics and operations (calendars, registrations, rosters, etc)
● Supervise and support young people during events/gatherings/programs
● Support communications across the department between young people, families, faculty, and staff
● Support department events/gatherings/programs (communicate with staff, gather materials, set up spaces, etc)
● Otherwise assist Youth Department staff and faculty in their work with young people
Reporting Structure:
The Youth Engagement Associate reports to the Director of Youth Engagement. It is a crucial support role, not a supervisory role.

● Are highly-organized, driven, and able to work collaboratively and independently
● Can lift 30-40 lbs
● Enjoy working with young people of all ages
● Have spent some years working in education and/or youthwork spaces (camp, school, youth group)
● Maintain positive and professional relationships with young people
● Understand Jewish communal life (culture, education, holiday/lifecycle)
● Work comfortably with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365

Additional Information:
Hours: ~8-10 hours per week:
● Saturday mornings, 8:30am – 12:00pm (in-person)
● Some Tuesday evenings, 6:30pm – 9:00pm (in-person)
● Occasional other weeknights and weekend evenings (in-person)
● Administrative hours to be determined (in-person to start)

Salary and Terms:
● Part-Time, Year-Round, Non-Exempt
● $20 – $25 / hour, based on experience
