Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust Film Screening
Narrated by Academy Award-winning actor Adrien Brody, Violins of Hope – Strings of the Holocaust follows Israeli master violinmaker Amnon Weinstein as he restores violins carried by starving Jewish refugees on death marches, played under coercion in concentration camps, and held close in ghettos and work camps—each instrument bearing witness to suffering, courage, and resilience. The film interweaves these histories with Weinstein’s mission to collect, repair, and return the violins to the world’s stages through performances by renowned musicians and orchestras, an act of love and defiance against those who tried to silence both the music and a people.
Post-film conversation featuring Janet Horvath. Ms. Horvath was the associate principal cello of the Minnesota Orchestra from 1980-2012. Her new book, The Cello Still Sings – A Generational Story of the Holocaust and of the Transformative Power of Music, will be available for purchase and signing.
