JLink Coffee Talk: Careers & Connections

A Meetup for Jewish Professionals brought to you by TC Jewfolk and JFCS of MN Career Services

JLink is a relaxed, welcoming meetup for Jewish professionals who want to connect, schmooze, and talk all things job search and career transitions.

This gathering is intentionally designed with an Ask Us Anything approach. Come with questions about your career, job search, or what’s next—or simply come to listen and connect.

JLink is both a conversation space and a connector—a place where Jewish professionals can learn about and access resources, relationships, and support that already exist in our community.

What This Space Is

  • Open-ended and participant-driven
  • Low-pressure and conversational
  • Grounded in real-life professional experiences
  • A bridge to Jewish communal resources and support

You don’t need to know what you’re looking for yet. This is a place to start.

Example Questions or Topics to Bring

(Totally optional — just here to spark ideas)

  • I’m feeling stuck in my role. How do I even begin thinking about next steps?
  • I know I should update my resume or LinkedIn… but where do I start?
  • What does Career Services at JFCS of MN offer, who is it for, and how do I get started?
  • How do I talk about my experience if my career path isn’t linear?
  • I’m thinking about a career change — how do I explore that with confidence?
  • How do I network in a way that feels authentic (and not awkward)?
  • What resources exist in the Jewish community that I might not know about yet?

From the Facilitator

Megan Starr is a Career Services Employment Counselor at JFCS Minnesota.
Megan has a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. She was a licensed social worker for nearly a decade, working with older adults coordinating home and community based services, providing community resources, and aiding those is crisis situations. Megan took a brief pause from social services and pivoted to corporate real estate as a valued administrative member of a downtown Minneapolis building’s property management team.
During the summer of 2023, Megan had the pleasure of joining the JFCS Career Services team returning to mission-oriented work. She completed her Global Career Development Facilitator certification in Spring 2024 and continues to grow as an Employment Counselor. Megan especially enjoys supporting and cheering on her clients while providing meaningful career resources.

My wish is folks leaving our coffee networking time to be supported, confident, and prepared with more access to job related resources.

What People Often Walk Away With

While every gathering is shaped by who shows up and what’s asked, participants often leave with:

  • A clearer sense of their next professional step
  • Awareness of job search support resources available through JFCS of MN and the broader Jewish community
  • Language to talk about career challenges more confidently
  • One or two meaningful new connections
  • Reassurance that they don’t have to navigate work or transitions alone

How JLink Is Shaped

JLink reflects one of Jewfolk, Inc.’s core values: Connection / Chibur.

Jewfolk exists to connect Jews to one another, to their local communities, and to their Jewish identities. JLink creates space for Jewish professionals to come together in conversation—building relationships, sharing questions, and learning about resources that support both professional growth and personal wellbeing.

By centering real voices, real questions, and real experiences, JLink strengthens connections across careers, life stages, and the broader Jewish community—reminding us that we don’t have to navigate work or transition alone.
