Alef List: Spring Has Sprung!

Hello TC Jewfolk! Spring has finally sprung. Are you as excited as I am to see the sunshine and green grass showing up? Oooh, and let’s also get excited for all things leavened (in case you lost track, Pesach ends tonight). So grab a beer or a bagel or any of your other chametz-y faves and check out the events calendar. It’s PACKED with great Jew to-do’s in the next few weeks.
Here’s the Alef List from April 6 – April 19:
You already know it’s Opening Night for the Minneapolis Jewish Film Festival. You’ll see us there, right? (The festival runs from April 8-18. Check out this complete list of all the films)
Join the Twin Cities community for the annual Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) commemoration. Mt. Zion (1300 Summit Ave, St. Paul) is hosting this year’s event which begins at 7pm and is free and open to the public. “A Transfer of Memory” is the theme for the evening event, featuring Holocaust survivors and students of the Talmud Torah of Minneapolis and Mt. Zion’s Adopt-a-Survivor program, recognition of The Righteous Among the Nations, Mt. Zion’s cantors and teen choir, and special guest Steven Copes, concertmaster of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
The last Beth El Young Adults dinner drew over 50 people and it was a blast! So, don’t miss out on this one. Not a Beth El member? No worries – the event is open to everybody. Services start at 5:45pm and dinner follows (around 6:45pm). The cost is $10 – RSVP and pay ahead of time (no money will be collected at the dinner due to Shabbat). More details and a link to RSVP/pay by credit card can be found on the Facebook event page (and, as an added bonus, you can check out the guest list to see which of your friends or soon-t0-be-friends will be there).
Join TC Jewfolk for an evening of theater, drinks and discussion of the play “Alyeska” by playwright Jenna Zark (if the name sounds familiar, it should – Jenna is one of TC Jewfolk’s regular writers). Check out this post for all of the event details – and don’t forget to RSVP to [email protected].
