This Sunday, August 5, the St. Paul JCC is throwing a Summer Soiree to benefit its youth services.
That sounds great. Everyone wants youth to have services, right? But what does that phrase really mean?
The St. Paul JCC’s youth programs are open to all kids. But not every kid’s family can afford to have them participate. Not every kid has the same abilities and needs.
So supporting “youth services” means that when you buy a ticket to the Soiree, you’re contributing to scholarships for kids to attend Camp Butwin, our 88-acre summer camp located in Eagan.
Or you’re helping to cover the costs for budding athletes to join our youth basketball league, which had over 200 participants this year.
It means sending teen athletes to the JCC Maccabi Games each summer. They travel together, compete against other teams and meet hundreds of kids from around the country.
It means buying art supplies and books. It means providing inclusion facilitators for kids with special needs so that they can participate in summer camp.
I could go on but I’m sure you get the picture.
Join us August 5th at the Summer Soiree and you’re guaranteed a good time. We’re transforming our space into the perfect party atmosphere. You’ll enjoy foods from around the world, adult beverages, chair massages, a photo booth and, of course, the aforementioned games for prizes that include airline tickets, sports memorabilia and an Apple iPad.
Tickets are $50/person and you can buy them at the door on Sunday, or call the JCC at 651-698-0751 up through Saturday to reserve yours.
The St. Paul JCC makes shaping young hearts and minds in positive ways part of our daily mission. This happens in a lot of different ways, at dozens of programs. But the end result is hopefully the same: compassionate, fun-loving, healthy kids.
We love what we do. But we your need help to keep on doing it.
