You're Invited: The Gatekeepers and Director Dror Moreh

gatekeepers-dror-morehOn Wednesday, November 20, Israeli filmmaker Dror Moreh will share behind-the-scenes stories of the making of his documentary The GatekeepersThe film was a contender for last year’s Best Documentary Feature Academy Award.
The film, which revolves around revealing, in depth interviews with former heads of Israel’s domestic intelligence and security service, Shin Bet, has been described by critics as amazing, brave and startlingly honest.  The subjects interviewed are surprisingly candid, and cover pivotal moments in Israel’s history, including the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin in 1995.
Such unprecedented conversations with the keepers of Israel’s most closely guarded secrets proved emotional for Moreh. He told the Washington Post that the interviews conducted for The Gatekeepers were “some of the toughest of my life.” Moreh will share these insights and more anecdotes from his time with these powerful men November 20, at 7 pm, at the Sabes JCC. The talk will be moderated by Steve Hunegs, director of JCRC.
An Evening with the Gatekeepers is the third and final event of Culture BLVD III, an initiative of the Israel Center of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation. The event is co-sponsored by the Sabes JCC, the St. Paul JCC, and JCRC. Media sponsors are the American Jewish World and us, TC Jewfolk.
