Jew Wanna Go? | June 24 – June 30, 2015

There’s something for everyone this week: family concerts, young professional networking and PRIDE FESTIVAL. Whoot! Plus, many more events on the calendar. Get off your tuchus and schmooze!

Woodstock ’15 (Part 1)

Family Summer Concert Series

Wed., June 24; 5:30; Blackhawk Pavilion; 1629 Murphy Pkwy, Eagan, MN

This summer, come join Temple of Aaron as it hosts the first of a four-concert series, featuring Wendy Baldinger’s Wiggle, Jiggle & Jam. Families and children are encouraged to attend. Rita’s Italian Ice will be served. They had me at “Wiggle, Jiggle & Jam.” Not sure what that entails, but I am so there, man.

Generation Next

JFCS NextGen Summer Party

Thurs., June 25; 6:30 p.m.; Tugg’s Tavern; 219 Main St SE, Minneapolis, MN

Get your party on and celebrate with the members of NextGen, a group that aims to engage and connect young philanthropists to JFCS and its services. The gang will be meeting at Tugg’s for food and drinks on the patio. Wait. So, this isn’t a Trekker convention?! I suppose this means I have to put my Geordi La Forge visor back in storage yet again! I was hoping to meet my boy LeVar Burton again! Dude still needs to autograph my Reading Rainbow coloring book! Sonofabitch!

J-Pride at the Pride Festival

Sun., June 28, 10:30 (all day event); Booth # P086; Twin Cities Pride Festival—Loring Park; 1382 Willow St., Minneapolis, MN

In the last year or so, gay pride has been stronger than ever as several states have begun to legalize gay marriage (cue thunderous applause, please!!). I usually try to say something pithy and sarcastic in this here column, but to me, the Pride Festival, no matter what state (or country!) you’re in, whether you’re gay or straight, is an event that is as important as they come, now more than ever. And, yeah, it fills me with pride that the TC Jewish community will be a part of it and that it embraces the LGBT community with such open arms. Go. Have fun. Enjoy.
