Ninja Warrior Course Coming To The Sabes JCC

At the Olympics, the decathlon is made up of 10 events spread out over two grueling days of completion. And while the JCC’s Olympiada on Sept. 11 may not crown “The World’s Greatest Athlete,” you can test yourself in as many (or few) athletic events as you want.

Olympiada is the second-to-last event of the summer-long J Games, the JCC’s nod to this summer’s Olympic Games. There are events in and around the JCC in St. Louis Park throughout the day. It features a 5k fun run on the North Cedar Lake Trail, a Ninja Warrior competition featuring American Ninja Warrior participant Jeremy Budda, youth ultimate Frisbee games, a basketball tournament, Zumba, kids’ yoga classes, Krav Maga classes, a visit from Goldie Gopher, and more.

Many of the events will be free, however there are registration fees required for the 5k run, the Ninja Warrior competition and the 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

The day starts with 5k at 9 a.m. for runners or 9:15 for walkers and those with strollers; registration and check in for the run starts at 7:30. Registration for all other events starts at 9 a.m. Budda will kick off the Ninja Warrior competition at 10 a.m. Check the schedule for more details on timing.

There will also be a variety of vendors taking part in the event, including Foxy Falafel Food Truck, Maddy and Maize Popcorn, Ninja’s United Elite Training Facility, Rita’s Italian Ice and Sabes JCC Fitness Center. The vendors will be in the tent on the JCC field from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The last event in the J Games series for the year is Brain Games on Oct. 9. By the end of the summer of events, more 10,000 participants are expected to have taken part in the festivities.
