Meet Ira Zborovsky – International Jewish Doer

The Joint Distribution Committee will be teaming up with Harry Kay and YALA for an evening of socializing, learning about the work of the JDC, and of course – food. Come get in on the fun at Tattersall Distillery at 6 p.m. on May 29th.

This event is intended for young adults and current Harry Kay fellows.

JDC is bringing Michael Novick and Ira Zborovsky in to tell JDC’s story and discuss all the work the organization does worldwide.

Ira Zborovksy

In some ways, Ira isn’t your typical Jew – at least as we understand these things here in Minnesota. Ira is a native of Odessa, Ukraine, who found out she was Jewish in her early teens. Ira benefited from JDC programs to revitalize Jewish life after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Ira graduated from Odessa National University majoring in Sociology. She began her career with JDC in the midst of her academic research, as she examined and wrote about the surge of Jewish identification within the Jewish community of the former Soviet Union in the post-Communist era. She fully embraced her Jewish identity and went on to lead JDC’s operations in Southern Ukraine and Moldova.

If you are interested in meeting Ira and hearing more of her story, be sure to join us on May 29th at Tattersall Distilling.
