Job Summary/Description:

The Charitable Giving and Finance Associate works with the Director of Charitable Giving and the Director of Finance in their day-to-day operations, including general administrative duties. The Associate will be expected to exercise high levels of customer service (internally and externally) as they assist with the Synagogue’s fundraising efforts while working with the Finance Director to account for donations and other funds coming into the Organization, and for the payable obligations that we have.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Responsibilities: Include the following:

Charitable Giving

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Charitable Giving
  • Monitor life-cycle events (obituaries, weddings, births, etc…) and prepare condolence & congratulations cards
  • Prepare thank you cards, notes, & emails for donations
  • Provide donor meeting preparation and follow up support
  • Update the database as needed, and oversee database activity

Financial Administration

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Finance
  • Assist the Finance Department with the processing of donors’ contributions and other revenue
  • Compile monthly internal reports and create necessary journal entries
  • Prepare and send endowment fund statements to fundholders, and coordinate other mailings
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems

Experience and Qualification Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred with at least three years office administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Comfortable command of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other technology tools, and a willingness to learn and become skilled in our database system
