TC Jewfolk’s food blogger and Noshin’ columnist Sara Rice is kicking off the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market “Sunday Cooks” series this Sunday, September 20th with a High Holiday cooking demonstration outside amidst the stalls of the market.
Join Sara this Sunday at 10:30am as she demonstrates how to make a meal for the Jewish harvest holiday of Sukkot, using fresh, local vegetables, herbs and meat from the farmer’s market. Her menu: a seasonal vegetable ragout with eggplant, tomatoes, bell peppers, onion and herbs; sauteed chicken breast with a date sauce; and lemon Israeli couscous.
So if you’re not in synagogue for Rosh Hashanah services on Sunday morning, head to the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market (Lyndale location) for this early morning cooking session (running time: 35 minutes). For those who can’t stop by, Sara will be posting her recipes (with photos of her creations) on TC Jewfolk in one of her upcoming Thursday Noshin’ columns.

This looks like a lot of fun, and a great way to kick off the holidays for those of us who won’t make it to temple.
Where at the Farmer’s Market?
The Sunday Cooks demos take place under white tents at the northwest side of the market (at East Lyndale Avenue North and Cesar Chavez Avenue).
Hope to see you Sunday!
Silly girl, I used to make my crusts from scratch, but life got busy, or whatever and I went to premade. I use a Martha Stewart’s Pate’ Brise’ pie crust recipe. It’s not too fussy and gives a nice flake. I do have that recipe, if you want it. Love your story!!! –MOM
Where was that recipe when I called? Now you’re just messing with my credibility 😉
