TV Host and Designer Nate Berkus to Headline Talmud Torah Fundraiser

Guest Post by Beth Rubin-Gabor, Marketing Director for Talmud Torah of Minneapolis
Interior Designer and Television Host Nate Berkus will return to his roots to speak at Talmud Torah of Minneapolis’ Annual Benefit the evening of May 6, 2012 at Adath Jeshurun Congregation.
Nate will do a meet and greet with attendees as well as share what he has been up to and what creative ventures he’s onto next! Allison Kaplan, Mpls. St. Paul Magazine style editor and host of Shop Girls on myTalk 107.1 will be the emcee for the evening.
Attendees can wine and dine at the fabulous Asian fusion buffet (catered by Spirit of Asia) and satisfy their cravings by partaking in the candy bar! There will also be a sensational dessert reception.
Nate, who attended Talmud Torah of Minneapolis, takes pride in his Jewish heritage. Nate is the host of “Nate Berkus Show”, owner of Chicago-based design firm Nate Berkus Associates, and was an executive producer of the movie, “The Help.” In fall 2012, Nate will publish his second book as well as re-launch his line of home products, currently sold through HSN, in retail outlets.
“As much as I begged my parents to let me skip Hebrew School as a child, it influenced me tremendously,” says Nate Berkus, nationally recognized designer and Talmud Torah alumnus. “My work in design has been a pursuit of different cultures and the beauty that one can find in their crafts, languages, artistry, cities and histories, which likely was started by Mrs. Rae Blackman and my other Talmud Torah teachers teaching me about our own culture and Jewish History.”
The Annual Benefit is Talmud Torah’s largest fundraising event of the year with the proceeds helping fund students’ Jewish education. In addition to the event, Talmud Torah will hold an online auction from April 6 to May 9. Bid on a variety of items by visiting www.talmudtorahauction.com.
