Win Free Tickets To "West Side Story" By Adath's USY and Kadima

Forbidden romance. It can make for heated family discussions: “Stick to your own kind! A boy like that will give you sorrow…” But the forbidden romance of Tony and “a girl named Maria” also makes great family entertainment for those who “like to live in America.”

Adath USY and Kadima present: West Side Story

Maria and Tony face opposition from family and friends about their relationship.

West Side Story: Nov. 15 – 18

If you’re thinking, “Hey, that sounds like the plot to ‘West Side Story’,” then you’re right, and “tonight won’t be just any night.” Tonight is a chance for you to win two free tickets to an adaptation of this romantic, but tragic musical presented by Adath’s USY and Kadima Nov. 15 – 18 at the Hopkins High School little theater.
“The USY and Kadima kids have worked really hard practicing for this production,” says Sivya Leventhal, Youth Activities Director at Adath Jeshurun Congregation. “If you’ve never seen this modern adaptation of what is basically Romeo and Juliet, or haven’t seen it in a while, then this is a must-see. We have a very talented group of actors, singers and dancers. The choreography is outstanding.”

Complete with feuding street gangs, dancing, death, and secret lovers “it’s alarming how charming you’ll feel” after seeing this production. If you can relate to the story of Maria and Tony, maybe you are in an interfaith relationship or have a family member who is. If so, Adath is hosting a discussion for you, free to the public, 7:30 PM Monday, November 19 on “Interfaith Families Negotiate December Dilemmas.”

Are you in an interfaith relationship? Is your child married to someone who isn’t Jewish? If so, you’re invited to a 7:30 PM Monday, Nov. 19 panel discussion at Adath Jeshurun with Rabbi Harold Kravitz and Barbara Rudnick of Minneapolis Jewish Family and Children’s Service.
