Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see CIA’s former Chief of Disguise Tony Mendez as he offers his take on his time with “The Company.” Mendez was decorated, and is now widely known, for his on-the-scene management of the “Canadian Caper” during the Iran hostage crisis, in which he exfiltrated six American diplomats from Iran in November 1979. Posing as a Canadian film crew, they were accompanied by Dennis Packer, a CBC cameraman. As part of their cover, the diplomats carried passports issued by the Canadian government to document them as Canadian citizens.
This was adapted for the screenplay and development of the award-winning 2012 American film Argo, directed by Ben Affleck, who also starred as Mendez. On the CIA’s 50th anniversary, Tony was chosen as one of the CIA’s top 50 officers for its first 50 years.
A portion of the proceeds of this event will help underwrite Beth El Synagogue’s Minnesota National Guard unit adoption initiative, directly benefiting C-CO 2-211 General Support Aviation Battalion currently stationed at Shindand Air Base in Afghanistan. Family members of deployed Charlie Company soldiers can attend this event free of charge by contacting FRG Leader Rick Rice by phone (612-272-7676) or email.

Please note: through their partnership with Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Calhoun Village, this event will have several of Tony Mendez’s books for sale the evening of the event.
