Cantor Inbal Sharett-Singer, the senior cantor at Temple Israel, will be leaving the congregation next year to be closer to family.
“I have personally enjoyed Cantor Sharett-Singer’s friendship, her heartfelt vision of worship especially during life cycle services, and her dedication to bringing Temple the finest and newest Jewish music,” said Senior Rabbi Marcia Zimmerman in a emailed newsletter to congregants announcing the departure.
Sharett-Singer’s last day will be June 1, 2025.
Sharett-Singer made history in 2022 when she joined Temple Israel as its first female cantor. The congregation plans to honor her on May 2 as part of its Yom Ha’Atzmaut – Israeli independence day – celebration.
“Reflecting back upon the past three years, I am grateful to all of you for the warm welcome you’ve continually extended to me and to my family,” Sharett-Singer said in a note to congregants in the newsletter.
“My husband, Jonathan, and our children have enjoyed being a part of Temple and our time here in Minnesota, and we will never forget all of the beautiful relationships we have developed with so many of you,” she said. “Our departure is bittersweet.”
The newsletter did not have details about Temple Israel’s expected process to search for Sharett-Singer’s replacement.
Very sorry to see you leave. We enjoyed and appreciated your work immensely. We wish you the very best as you go forward.
Regards
Frank and Toby Berman.
