Duluth Flooding 2012

NECHAMA, the Jewish community’s disaster response organization, is accepting volunteers to assist with flood cleanup in the Duluth, MN area starting on Thursday June 28th.
We will be working Sunday-Friday through the next couple of weeks. Individual volunteers and groups are welcome to join us for a day or for multiple days during the deployment.  We have secured lodging in a local church that is available for volunteers that would like to stay overnight or for work multiple days. For those who are staying with us, you will need to bring all bedding, toiletries etc.
There is no charge to volunteer with us.
If you want to reserve a day or two with NECHAMA to help our Duluth neighbors, click on the following link to register.  Duluth Volunteer Registration.
More Information About the Deployment:
Duluth is only 2.5 hours away from our headquarters in the Twin Cities and depending upon interest we can help set up car pools as needed leaving from our HQ parking lot.
Sunday July 1st we are hoping to fill the NECHAMA van for a day trip.  The first 11 people, who want a ride, can secure a spot in the NECHAMA vehicle.  We will be meeting at the 7260 Washington Ave office in Eden Prairie at 6:30am.  We will return by 7:30pm.
The Scope of the Project:
We are mucking out and gutting homes which have been affected by flood waters.  This means we are removing all affected clothing, furniture, flooring, and walls that absorbed water.  We will then clean and sanitize the area for the home owner to rebuild. No prior experience necessary, will provide you with a safety briefing and clean up orientation on site at the start of each day.
Please wear clothing that can get dirty and closed toe shoes.  Many people bring a change of clothing for the trip home.  Please bring your own lunch.
