Jewish lawyer Daniel Rosen was nominated to be U.S. attorney for Minnesota by President Donald Trump earlier this week.
If Rosen is approved by the U.S. Senate, he will follow another Jewish lawyer, Andrew Luger, who served in the same position under both Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
The U.S. attorney for Minnesota is the local prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice. The prominent Feeding Our Future scandal was litigated by the office.
Rosen was recommended by Minnesota’s Republican lawmakers in Washington, D.C.: Reps. Tom Emmer, Pete Stauber, Michelle Fischbach, and Brad Finstad.
“Dan Rosen is one of the sharpest legal minds in the entire country, and we are thrilled that President Trump has nominated him,” the four lawmakers said in a joint statement.
“With over three decades of experience as an attorney and a proven commitment to public safety, Dan will uphold the rule of law and keep criminals off our streets. As fraud and crime run rampant under Governor Walz’s watch, we urge our colleagues in the Senate to act quickly to confirm Dan’s nomination.”
Rosen, a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, is a respected lawyer with over 30 years of practice. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, and a former board member of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.
Steve Hunegs, executive director of the JCRC, said the organization looks forward to working with Rosen once he is confirmed for the position.
“Daniel will make an effective and articulate United States Attorney based on his vast experience in many different realms of the law and the community,” Hunegs said.
“He will understand the importance of uniting the various stakeholders of the U.S. attorney’s office behind the agenda that he will lead,” he said. “I would imagine that he will consult with former U.S. attorney Andy Luger and learn from his experiences.”
